Sign Stool by Trent Jansen is an impressive piece of design, that demonstrates that all things have more than one life. This stool has a story to tell from its time served on the roadside, where it was doing its public duty. Constructed from re-used road signs, Sign Stool 450 comes complete with all the characteristics of its previous life, such as colourful vinyl labels and occasional bit of graffiti.

The Sign Stool 450 is fundamentally a sustainable piece of furniture design. Constructed from re-used road signs, the rubber feet and rivets are the only new materials used in the manufacture of this piece, so the burden placed on our natural resources is lessened.

Special Note: As this stool is made from recycled material, it is unique in nature and there will be variation from product to product

Design Story

Trent Jansen is an Australian designer who practices “honest and poetic sustainable design” by developing objects of longevity, that maintain a lasting relationship with their users. After completing his studies at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW in 2004, Trent Jansen interned at Marcel Wanders in Amsterdam. Trent established his own studio after returning to Australia later that year, and has held teaching posts at several Australian Universities.
